Ilfracombe

Our break was fantastic, just what we both required, we arrived on Thursday, parked the car and walked for three days. Loads of dramatic coastline, lovely sunrises and sun sets, beautiful sunny days, cooler nights. We decided not to leave the small town, and stroll through the many narrow streets.
Our hotel was small a bit dated, but had wonderful staff and owner, who made our stay comfortable, we ate breakfast and evening meals at the hotel, had a snack out when walking. We had fish and chips, cream tea, fudge, ice cream and brought pasties home for tea last night. Devon is a beautiful county, and it was perfect to go back there.
We loved the rocky coastline and the harbour. We got to know Verity, she was a talking point (more next time).
We did not turn the TV on once, and I read a couple of books.
Home now, with Will for the day, back to normal and both of us are feeling so much better.

  1. Ilfracombe is lovely isn't it (if a bit hilly!). We stayed there a couple of years ago, in an apartment about 200 yards away from Verity - she certainly is a talking point, I was amazed and horrified in equal measure, Damien Hurst is extremely talented and has a very vivid imagination! Glad you're feeling so much better, Marlene. We're off to Devon in a few days, south Devon this time though.

  2. I'm glad you had a good time, it looks like you got some great weather. Damien Hirst certainly does have some weird ideas, doesn't he? I'm not sure Verity met with everyone's approval when she was installed.

  5. We stayed with our touring van right up on the hill. It was very busy as it was mid summer. You have kindled my wish to return and I will put it on next year’s list. Thank you.
