My little bit of this big World

Nothing happening

I purchased these heavy glass spheres as Christmas decorations, and once they were home, I did not like them, which shows the perils of buying online, so for a couple of years they have been in my attic. Yesterday I had a brain wave, and now they are in the garden, where they catch the sunshine and I love them.
I have finished my 1st sock, now I will do more on hubby's.
To keep the stripes looking good, once I had finished the heel, I wound on the shades until I found the correct place to use for picking up the stitches and knitting the foot. This yarn goes a long way, the ball is still huge.
I have another yarn order coming, Wool Warehouse have 35% off Drops yarn, it's on until the end of the month, I purchased the yarn for a pink ripple baby blanket, plus a couple extra of Drops Nord and Drops Alpaca, these with left overs from previous knitting will make a couple items. I'm not on commission, I just love sharing a bargain.
It rained through Tuesday night and most of the morning on Wednesday, lots of lovely rain, not enough to fill water butts, but I have a good supply of water, the garden is now OK until into next week. The last real rain we had was 1st week in April.
Tuesday I had a lazy day at home, did almost nothing, I let the bugs have their way, so plenty of knitting and started my book, which is different again to my normal read, but I do like the style of the author. Another evening with nothing on the TV, so we both sat and read, and then an early night.
Wednesday was another day at home, it was market day in the village, we did walk down, I passed on plants, but hubby got a couple of Hebe's for pots in front garden, back home more knitting and reading. Having had a couple of restful days, I am now feeling much better.
Still not doing anything in the garden, I hope to be able to plant out next week, the long range fore caste is for it to get warmer after the weekend.
This morning was housework, I have done most of it, I do love a clean house, we are driving down to Somerset tomorrow for a long weekend, looking forward to catching up with everyone. I have my 2nd peony in a pot for my brothers garden, he has ripped out all the old and recreating a nicer space for himself.

  1. The red spheres are a perfect addition to your garden which looks absolutely stunning! The weather's been raining pretty much all week here, but we don't mind as the garden is getting a good watering and the water butt is full. Best, Jane :)

    1. It's raining again, so I'm hoping both my water buts will be full.

  2. The glass spheres look lovely in the garden, don't they? It was definitely worth keeping hold of them until inspiration struck. I sometimes put a contrasting heel in striped socks so that it doesn't upset the sequence, not always though. We had quite a bit of rain yesterday and it's a drizzly sort of day today. Enjoy your weekend.

    1. I looked for a contrast, but I had nothing I could use, I dod like the wider bands of colour on the heels.

  3. I love the colours and pattern on the socks. I haven't picked up my knitting for about 2 weeks now. Sweetie will have grown out of this top before I have even finished it but it has been quite a good starting point - a lot of the knitting techniques are coming back to me.
Your garden looking lovely with the new decking and the red glass ornaments.

  4. Oh dear, now I have to go and look at the drops yarn. Never mind I will try to be strong but expect to fail. Those globes look great in the garden, I think that when the sun shines they must look spectacular.
