We had no real garden when we moved here in 2009, decking was along the back of the house from one fence to the other, the lawn was dead and no flower beds at all. This post is just for me to show what we have done over the years, and how our garden became what it is today.
How we use are outside space has completely changed in the past 15 years, the garage access is no longer for a motorbike, since retirement we spend loads more time outside, it's a safe space, all on one level, lots of room to move about. The flower beds are very little work, just filling in any gaps, growing some bedding plants from seed. The veg beds are brilliant, gives the gardening I want and need, with small harvest as a bonus, having to work the soil through the year is good for me.
Other than 2015 where I was showing the view with less decking, with grounds work being done, all my photo's were just the view from the patio doors, often without the huge decking area, which I considered my garden area, now our garden feels huge as we use all the space nearest to the house.
I did a post back in 2020, whilst in lockdown, I was bored with very little to post about, if you want to see more about our early garden, pop here. One year on from our refit, we are both so very happy with our outside space, our grandchildren have played outside whenever they could, even after rain, it all drains so well.
It looks so pretty. You have obviously put a lot of love and hard work into it.
ReplyDeleteVery neat and tidy and practical. My garden is productive but full of organised chaos. It's difficult to have a neat garden in the countryside in between fields and next to the sea.
ReplyDeleteNeat and tidy is so ingrained in me, I don't know any other way.
DeleteI think you've grown and changed your outdoor space so well and it suits your lifestyle... it's a great looking garden.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Your outdoor space is perfect. We have lived in this house for probably 35 years and are still trying to get our outdoor space up to par.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
We sat and worked out in order of importance what we wanted, the first being all on one level, we then measured and I started designing, doing a CAD plan was hard but worth the struggle, as I was able to add more of what we wanted.
DeleteYou have improved it over the years, it's looking lovely, nice to look back and see how things have changed.
ReplyDeleteTo create such a beautiful space really makes a lasting difference, you should be so proud. After watching Monty Don’s British Gardens tv programme last week I did say to MrFF I’d like to create one more garden, we’ve made 2 from scratch. At 76 that would be a challenge but so rewarding and worthwhile. Well done.

You have made significant changes and improvements to your garden. You started with almost a blank canvas and your planning and hard work have really paid off. It's inspirational!
ReplyDeleteYou've done such a lot of work to your garden over the years, to get it just how you want it. So now you can spend time (when it's warmer!) sitting out and enjoying it. Our garden's not there yet, as we've only been here a year, there are still things we want to do to it.
ReplyDeleteI am still deciding how I want my garden ... only been here 24 years ....! Yours has matured nicely ☺️
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely to see how your garden has evolved so that you can enjoy your time outdoors to the full.
ReplyDeleteNeat and tidy all the way with me also! Looks lovely Trying to comment as anonymous as can’t seem to any other way. Regards JennyP from Australia
ReplyDeleteIt's a remarkable transformation, Marlene. All credit to your amazing ideas and a lot of hard work. Xx
