Poppy Patchwork

My little bit of this big World

Finished

Will's jumper is done, knitted neck down and in the round, no stitching up required, just sewing any ends in, no seams and very comfortable to wear. I will post a photo of him wearing it soon.

I was hoping I would have these socks finished by now, but I have been reading, even though I do not work, I still have to juggle my time to fit in all my crafts, I am keen to get things finished in March. Once April arrives I am outside so much more. I hope these will be done over the weekend, I want to finish my jumper, I've only the sleeves and the lower part of the body to do, it's the same pattern as Will's jumper.
Our weather is back to normal, we had rain yesterday and today, my pots in the garden were dry, so the rain was overdue, BUT it was lovely to be able to sit outside in warm sunshine (which we did for 3 days), Will visited twice, he loves our garden. It's still far to early to be planting anything, but I am beginning to think about our outside space, there is very little to do this year, watch what grows, fill any empty spaces and enjoy the garden.
I feel mean writing this, but our new neighbour is not gaining any friends in our street, I think she is a person who is not bothered by anything. Already neighbours across the street are fed up with her outside lights, which are very bright being on all night, these neighbours sleep in the front of their houses. Her lights in the back are also bright and on all night, but it is not impacting on us. As the winds are here again, all the rubbish from her skip is blowing into gardens and down the street, more complaints. On Tuesday night she let here 3 dogs outside, forgot them and fell asleep, 3 hours later (2.30am) I was banging on her door to get the dogs in and stop them howling, she would not answer, so sadly I knocked on her daughters door (she lives in the same street), we were desperate to get some sleep. Everyone is asking what is she like, but we don't see her often, and we believe she does not want to interact with anyone, her daughter always speaks when we see her. The whole of Win's beautiful garden has been paved over, everything dug up, just hard landscaping, such a shame, nowhere for wild life.
Carole I will post your parcel tomorrow, Pam Please email me your address.

  1. Will's jumper looks lovely. Yes, the 'normal' February weather returned here yesterday too. Cold and pouring with rain all day and night, but the garden needed it. Perhaps your new neighbour is agrophobic, suffers anxiety, problems with interacting with others. Perhaps a small bunch of daffs with a welcome to the neighbourhood card. You could leave them on the doorstep if she won't answer the door, and if she still doesn't want to know, at least you tried to make her feel welcome. Best, Jane x

    1. We did try last week to interact with her, but she was not interested. Before she moved in she was chatting to us regarding the area, but nothing since.

  2. One of my Grandsons is getting married next month so I'm hanging on in there and hoping that at some time I may get some baby knitting going.

  3. The jumper has turned out lovely, I'm sure it will suit Will and keep him nice and warm. We've got lower temperatures here but no rain, it's still mild for this time of year so I'm not complaining.

  5. I am so envious of your jumper - I have started knitting mine but not sure I am confident enough to put a picture of it on my blog. Your raglan stitches are so neat.
Sorry to hear about your neighbour - it is hard getting used to new people - we have had a run of newbies next door on both sides in the last few years. I find they don't stay long these days as they want to move onwards and upwards very quickly.

    1. Pratice your skills, it does take time, my 1st garments were not that neat, I worked in a yarn shop for a while, and they taught me to be brave with my knitting. One rule I have, is if it wrong or messy, unpick and do again, leaving it thinking it will do, does not work on a garment you have finished. If I have a new design, I made pratice strips just to understand and neaten the proccess. These days I don't bother, as I have years of experience.
