A very British BBQ

 Yesterday we had our Jubilee BBQ, and as you can see from the sky, it was not a sunny day.

 Both my car and the house was dressed in red, white and blue, we had a Royal quiz, which we all helped with the answers, loads of food and wine. It did not rain, and we watched the palace concert on our big screen. Josh and Sammy had their burgers, and a game of football on the lawn. Cold but dry, after all we are British, so we are used to the weather doing it's own thing.

 I even had red, white and blue flowers, the blue are dried and dipped in paint.

 I have pulled out Sweet flowers, but I have not done anything as yet, just to busy.

 I am itching to knit with this wool, I have had it a couple for weeks, 

I have a couple of patterns to choose from,

Today is another day off, and it's raining, so a stay at home day, will start cross stitching soon, and then just three days for work, nice short week. I am hoping this week will be better in the office, it was very manic last week, busy the whole time.

A finish

 Tribal cat is completed

I used DMC threads, 745;782;783;972;976;977 and 3820, hoping it might look like our daughters childhood cat, Tiger, I am very please with it.

 It was hard as I neared the finish line to decide which shade for which pattern, on our Tiger he did not have one patch which was just one colour, hence our love of ginger tom cats.

 A cheeky Buzz Lightyear

So far this weekend we have spent loads of time in the car, travelling to Somerset for the funeral of my sister in law, who lost her battle with cancer, but we are home again, a good nights rest, ready for the rest of our long weekend.

We are popping to the DIY/Garden centre for a few items, we also want to look at a pair of bikes, not motor but pedal, just to look for the moment, we are thinking it might be fun.

Tomorrow we are having a Jubilee BBQ, with both daughters and friends, so this after noon we will watch the Queen on the Thames, and have an evening together.

Tuesday is a stay at home day, and see what happens, but I do know at some point I will stitch Sweet Flowers, I have this months patterns here waiting.

 The Machines de l’Ile is a totally unprecedented artistic project. Born from the imaginations of François Delarozière and Pierre Orefice, it is a blend of the invented worlds of Jules Verne, the mechanical universe of Leonardo da Vinci, and the industrial history of Nantes, on the exceptional site of the former shipyards

 We spent an afternoon here, some where out of the rain, and what a great surprise we had, every where was amazing, from sketches machines grew and then they were built, we had no real idea of what we were coming to see. Can you imagine our faces as the elephant came towards us, slowly moving along the street.

 So many different machines, all built with care, using alot of wood to shape the animals,

 The heron bird gives flight, and was so big, I took far to many photo's to show you here. Les Mondes Marins, is huge, but not opening until July, sea life built next to the river,looks like a giant carousel, I would so love to go back and visit.  Young and old faces were  awake with the beauty and mechanics of every thing.

 Tribal cat has grown, I'm please with it's progress, as I work towards the front of the cat, the colours will become lighter. I think I will do a bit more on this one, I do have projects lining up, but this is a quicky by my standards.

Work today was good, very busy, I was missed last week, I prefer to be busy the time goes quicker.

Home again

 Food was great, not sure about the donkey in pink gingham, very nice shops, loads of them, full of French style.

 Poppies every where, the road sides were very pretty, I love the mix of poppies, cornflowers and daisys

 the camp site pools, there was 5 of them, very clean, and not to full, May is a good time to go.

 our chalet, life was good, BBQ most nights, loads of red wine.

I did get some tribal cat done, but now I will be back on Sweet Flowers the next stage of the pattern has been released.  This afternoon our grand sons will be popping in to see us, loads of things here for them. I'm off to our garden, the sunny weather is just great.
