Everyone loves a BBQ, hubby cooked a simple one, just burgers, sausages and chicken, I made a grown up selection of salads for daughter and us, alongside a cider shandy, bliss. Hubby is going to sell his BBQ, these days it is far to big for us, so he made the decision to sell it and get a smaller one, he has already seen one he likes.
The children used all of the garden again, this space is just so perfect for them, Molly approved of our new sunroom, she was happy to be able to get scooters out, I put the smaller garden rug in a shady spot with cushions for them to play.
My daughter told me there was a prequel to Ask For Andrea, so I found it on Kindle, again I'm not going to tell you the plot, again I could not put it down, a wonderful plot, I'm off to look for more of her books. Book 41 read this year.
Gardening is on hold, except watering, I do enjoy the time spent with the hose, checking the plants and surrounding garden. There is very little in the greenhouse, half has a net curtain up to help with shade. These cuttings are all doing well, mainly gaura, 7 tiny ones and 1 bigger plant, 2 begonias, and a tray of mixed salad leaves.
Saturday evening we watched the live feed of TakeThat circus concert in Manchester, hubby enjoyed it, we shared a bottle of red wine, a very different and enjoyable few hours. I have no desire to go to any of these huge venues, but I do still love music, so watching on our bigger screens at home is just perfect.
We are under another amber weather warning for heat in the next few days, its going to be at least 34° again, I'm not great in the heat, so we are sitting in the shade trying to find any breeze, we have a few nice spots. I'm back watering the garden again. We had planned a trip to Oxford with an overnight stay on Monday/Tuesday, we have delayed our trip for almost a week, just to hot to go sightseeing.

We have a barbecue we haven't used for several years, but I don't think my husband is quite ready to bid it farewell . . .
ReplyDeleteHubby loves his BBQ, but its just far too big for us.
DeleteHow lovely to spend time with the family outside enjoying the weather. Husband loves his barbecue. He uses it quite a bit on his cooking days in the summer, certainly saves the kitchen from getting too hot!
ReplyDeleteYes , too hot for me also ! I can see two cheeky faces hiding on the garden sofa ! ☺️Your garden is beautiful . Happy days ! ☀️
ReplyDeleteSweet pictures of the children ...
ReplyDeleteStay as cool as you can this coming week.
All the best Jan
I will trade you heat and sunshine, for some of the rain we are getting. Things are a lovely green, however now we need some sunshine and heat.
ReplyDeleteYour garden is always such a beautiful retreat.
God bless.
I do love the summer but the heat is too much these days I sit under an umbrella with a fan!
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be far too hot for me this week so I'm going to hibernate as much as I can, lol. We are not bbq people, and we rarely if ever eat outside. I didn't realise there was a prequel to AFA
ReplyDeleteOur garden is south-west facing so we get direct sun all afternoon and evening, it does mean that we're able to retreat to the front rooms in the house if we want to cool down. Our summers are getting hotter year on year, I don't think air conditioning in UK houses will be a luxury soon, it will be a necessity. Stay safe in the heat this week.
ReplyDeleteYour new garden room seems to be a big hit with all the family. So nice to see the children enjoying themselves.
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of us in the UK will be seeking the shade over the next few days. We are just not used to dealing with these extremes of weather. Stay cool and enjoy your week.
Wow, you are plowing through those books! Yeah, this is definitely not going to be sightseeing weather. I plan to stay home and be as inactive as possible! (Except watering, like you.)
ReplyDeleteI think they've now upped our weather warning to red today, which isn't great. Luckily, OH has set up our air conditioning unit in the kitchen, which is where I spend most of my time. I won't be going far this week. I'm no sun worshipper anymore.
ReplyDeleteGrilling/barbecuing all the way here too!
