My little bit of this big World

How many years

 It's February 9th,

not a huge date in the world, here it's the anniversary of my blog, I wrote my first post back in 2009, seen here. I had no idea where it would lead, my daughter was enjoying blogging and suggested I try it. At one point I had 3 blogs, one for photography and another for my dolls-house, both are still there, I don't use either, hubby tried a blog, but lost interest, daughter no longer blogs.

I still prefer the gentle medium of blogging, I have a great list of people who I follow and love to read, everyone living around the world, often with similar hobbies, views and lifestyles, I adore how we are all very close in our opinions, but very different in our lives.

Each morning I sit at my desktop and catch up with my world, emails and blogging, I no longer post on Facebook, I still use my Instagram account. In these turbulent times it's good to have a space which feels safe and friendly.

How long have you been blogging?

  1. I started blogging in January 2010, it's been pretty much on and off since then. Most of the bloggers that I've followed over the years have disappeared, so it's only recently that I've looked around and found others to follow. I found you as a friend of a friend of a friend, and I love your content. Happy Monday

  2. I like your description of blogging being a gentle medium - and hardly any 'snarky' comments anywhere nowadays which is good.
I'm heading up to 13 years - although I've no idea what to write about this week!

  3. 17 years. I started in 2009 - the year my eldest son started high school. A photo a day with a short waffle.
I out grew that fairly quickly and started another, then a third to cope with my artwork and then a 4th to raise awareness of the Japanese tsunami and how to get supplies to the country (their government only wanted money but there were women who had nothing to keep warm, their children were cold, no bedding, sanitary products, so I tracked down and English girl in Japan and we sent things to her directly to hand out)
Then another one to 'advertise' a yarn festival in the village (to raise funds for the above) which was really successful so we did it for a couple of years to pay for postage and items to send to Japan.
then my present version - which I'd let lapse due to work and time pressures, using IG as it was quicker and less emotional. But now I am a free woman (yay for early retirement) I have returned.😆
So six blogs in total but only one now :)

  4. I totally agree on the "gentle medium", and your comment about how we are all alike in a lot of ways despite being in different places in the world. If only the powers that be could see that!!!!

  5. I started in February 2009 as well. There were a few lean years, when life took over and the blog was neglected. I blog because I enjoy it and like to read the blogs of others, some of whom have vastly different lives to mine. It's a safe place.

  6. I agree -- blogging does feel gentler and more civilized than much of the online world. I started in May 2006, after a co-worker started blogging himself. He and I are both still at it!

  9. I started blogging many years ago, and actually lost my first blog as i could not access it after about 8 years. So many of my blogging friends have stopped blogging over the years, so I glad that still a few keep right on.

    God bless.

  11. I do love blogging and visiting other people's blogs. We seem to have a lovely community. I was quite late starting blogging. My first one was started in 2020 but I had to change to my current one in 2023. Wishing you many more years of blogging.

  12. Belated Happy Blog-Anniversary.
It's taken me this long to reply because it's taken me this long to get round to finding out when I started; 18th Feb 2012, with s recipe for oaty biscuits which I still use.
I often wonder why I am blogging, and why I like reading about other people's lives...
I know why I started, to keep in touch with family and friends who live at a distance.
If I hadn't been a blogger, I would never have met Ang and done these great stitching collaborations, among other things: blogs are so enriching.
