The leaves have started to fall around our garden, the magnolia tree leaves go very dry on the tree before they fall, these will need shredding once they drop before going into my mulch bins. The red acer leaves are also curling a sure sign they are about to drop. Behind the fence our neighbours virginia creeper are beautiful colours, it's not a plant I would want in our garden, we are always cutting back roots along the fence.

I moved my forsythia a while ago, I am really hoping this is just the leaves dying back and not the end of the plant, this is a perfect spot for it, I will have to wait until the spring, I have already put a deep layer of mulch around it's base.
My trio of acers leaves are curling, the red one always sheds first, it's sad to see these colours fade, but on the flip side it's always wonderful to see them come back into leaf each spring.

I adore primroses, they remind me of a great childhood growing up in rural Somerset, the hedgerows were always full of them, I have clumps around the back section of my gardens, I regularly split them.
The heating has finally be turned on, still often when the radiators should be warm, they are not, the house is keeping the heat in, all the work in previous years is now paying off, nothing beats a warm house. Neither of us like the house too hot, I am enjoying wearing my jumpers and socks again, it's comfortable for me, hubby just never feels the cold, I'm not such a cold bod as I used to be.
Days at home don't bother me, normally I have loads to do, I'm still very undecisive what to be crafting, I was pleased to have made my Christmas cakes, I really must find something to do, I'm spending too much time playing 'arrows' on my tablet.

Sometimes we just need to play!
ReplyDeleteLovely to see your autumn colours.
ReplyDeleteWe filled out green bin with leaves on Sunday and by tea time it looked as if we hadn't done a thing! I wouldn't mind about picking up the few leaves you have ,lol. Not had our heating on yet, it's still quite warm in the day, today temps reached the high teens!
ReplyDeleteI do get loads of leaves from next door and the garden at the bottom of our garden, I am always picking up leaves.
DeleteThe Autumn colours in your garden look lovely.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Such lovely colours in your garden. Understand perfectly about the Virginia Creeper. We had it in our yard and it took years to rid ourselves of it. We still have some creeping out in a few places.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
We are hating my neighbours clematis Montana. It's strangling our beautiful golden privet.
DeleteLovely photos.
ReplyDeleteI still haven't had the big heat on yet though I'm sitting here tonight with my blanket on me and a little heater on. I shall have to give in soon. It's rained all day here which just makes it feel even colder. Yuck.
The colours were pretty nice yesterday but today not so much!
Autumn colours are gorgeous, I hope your forsythia survives, I've asked my husband to do some hardwood cuttings so we can have another one in our back garden.
ReplyDeleteI love all your beautiful autumn colours. We have the heating set to 17.5 now. I might push it up to 18 just to give it a boost if the house has been empty and gotten cold. We can't stand to be too warm either.
ReplyDeleteI'm really noticing the cold now, it's definitely turned. We've had the heating on earlier in the year than we usually do, mainly because Jack's here at 7am some mornings, I wouldn't want him to be cold. We haven't had much rain here either, there's still a hosepipe ban in place. Your primroses are pretty, I love them too and though I used to have them in my old garden, I haven't planted any here yet.
ReplyDeleteSome beautiful leaf colours in your garden. I've really noticed how much colder it is getting this last couple of days. There is a definite nip in the air. It is almost glove wearing weather. I too don't mind days indoors when the weather is awful. It gives me the excuse to just get on with some sewing.
ReplyDeleteAcers put on a beautiful display at this time of year. X
