January round up

Just one crafting spend, the brushes for needle felting, bigger spend in the garden, I am ahead of myself for preparations for spring sowing. The red corners are to show comments, I always add notes showing what I have purchased.

9 Books read this month

Having to purchase a new air-fryer was not the start we planned, and a plumbing bill to fix our shower, lastly a new desktop for hubby, it became an expensive month.

We took our eye off dates and a couple of food items went into the bin at the start to the month, we don't have so any Christmas bits left and are back to watching dates.

The extra pounds I put on over Christmas have almost shifted, I still have more to go, I'm not on a diet, I am just cutting back on portion size and treats, I will keep it up in February, I hope to be able to get out and walk more as well.

  1. You did really well on the spending front this month, despite having to pay for a few replacements and repairs. We had a new car battery to pay for this month and our washing machine seems to be nearing the end, but it's hanging on in there. Otherwise, nothing too onerous this month.

  2. You have inspired me to keep track of what I buy and so at the beginning of the year I have set up spread sheets for craft, garden and DIY, as well as other things I want to keep track off. I'm going to try and keep up with it, it'll be interesting to look at come the end of the year. We'll done for January spending, we've had some expected spends as we are refreshing the shower room and kitchen.

  3. It sounds like a good start to the year, despite unwelcome and unexpected spending.

  4. I wish I could be that organised. I start of with good intentions but quickly lapse.

    1. I have far too much time on my hands, in my working life, excel spreadsheets and other charts ruled my days, some habits are ingrained.

  6. It is always the unexpected things that can ruin a well planned budget in an instant! You must be pleased January has gone and you are edging closer to getting going in the garden...me, I can wait as I have so much I still to do in the house.
We had a very complicated spreadsheet set up at work for my team to access and report on. It was the only way we could track the progress of over 200 cases going through our department and I set up the wonderful red, amber, green alert on it. I am not sure I could set it up now but I do remember the red corners...we used those to put notes on about a problem file. I have a Microsoft money program to record our spending and saving but if I didn't I would be using excel. The money program I have installed is just excel in a fancy package anyway, but I wish it had a place for the red corner notes that would be handy!
