 Lime in front, orange behind

Cape Gooseberry, I will repot these as well.

Coffee, this plant prefers shade so is inside the house
Purchased 2019
I have planted some cherry and apple pips, I have a ginger root and a top from a pineapple to start going. I am hopeful for the ginger, the others I will have to see if anything happens.
I spent an hour in the greenhouse today, the sunshine is great, but it's still cool outside. The growing season is almost here, but with the risk of frost, it's too early to plant out anything, so the greenhouse feeds my need to garden. I love trying to grow different things, most of the time I am making it up as I go along, but my results are very pleasing.
I did sow French Marigolds in the two trays of my planter (veg rack) below, this year I have popped 2 unused nappies in the bottom to help hold water, the trays dried out far to quick last year, I have also added some chicken poo pellets, to add life to the compost, I am hoping the flowers last longer this year. I have also sown some Cosmos seeds in another tray, to help fill in gaps in the garden.

  1. WOW so many lovely fruits! We grow rhubarb because it's a vegetable, but we haven't tried fruit. We've been thinking about planting an apple tree in the back garden as we have a huge swathe of grass, and a tree, sort of off centre to hide the green house, might be nice. Next door has a pear tree that overhangs our garden, but the pears a really hard and tasteless. Best, Jane x

    1. Our Magnolia tree is in front of our greenhouse and when in full leaf in the summer it shades the greenhouse for most of the morning. Which is a great help on very hot days.

  2. Sounds like you are off to a great start this year.
We had a frost last night and DH was so worried about his seedlings in the greenhouse.

    1. It helps with my need to grow, my garden is just too tiny for any veg.

  4. I didn't know the trick with the nappies! We had a frost last night - luckily nothing suffered. Your little fruit collection is lovely with all those free fruits.
