Life as we know it.....

Flowers in October
Hubby has built my raised cut flower bed,
it's bigger than I expected, which is not a bad thing.
The contents of all these pots will go in the bottom,
there is room for the big pot with my blackcurrant bush in the front corner
I'm feeling smug, this plant shows no signs of stress
after being repotted and my new super tube to keep it warm.
I have done some more stitching
I am loving September colours
November was released today.
I am loving the cold dry mornings, I leave the house at 7.30am each morning, I do enjoy the crisp mornings, wrapping up warm, extra layers and the different clothes I have pulled from my wardrobe.
We are not yet in danger of over night frost. On Saturday I will pack items away from the garden, loads of things spend winter in my shed, all protected. My olive bush will go into the greenhouse and my succulents and cacti will over winter in a new cold frame hubby will make for me before the weekend. I have the old opening window from my lean too greenhouse to pop on top, the plants don't mind the cold but hate the wet.
Our lovely neighbour Win passed away last week, she would have been 102 years old on 2nd January, she was in hospital and did not wake up one morning. We are deeply sad to think we won't be able to chat to her any more, she had a sharp mind and wit. We have had the pleasure of knowing her for 6 years, she is not the sort of woman you forget any time soon.
We have been watching a few more camper vans, a couple got away as the price went too high, we are not in a huge rush, the right one for us is out there.
Work is back to normal, we are still slow but soon enough we will become very busy, but we all get on as a team and days include fun, which is good for everyone.

  3. I'm so sorry to hear about Win, what a great age to get to though, she sounds like a remarkable woman. We've had our first frost, it was last week. I don't mind the crisp mornings when it's sunny but the damp, dreary days really get me down.

  4. I'm so sorry to hear about your neighbor Win. You were also a good neighbor to her. It does sound like she had a good long life. The flowers are so pretty. It is getting much colder here, no frost but soon.

  6. I love all of your beautiful flowers. I also have a lot of blooms for so late in the season. I just put on my planner to weed the flower garden today. I don't have the raised beds as you do. Nor do I have a greenhouse. I used to, until we moved. I enjoyed scanning your blog and reading this post (as well as the last three). Sorry the camper van didn't work out. Just as you are about to give up, one will show up! And I'm very sorry about your neighbor. It reminded me of our old neighborhood. The neighbors were the original owners of the homes, all in their 90's. So sad when they passed. They were like family. Have a good day and bring in some of those gorgeous blooms to enjoy in your home!

  7. Like the others, I am so sorry Win passed. I know how much she meant to you. It sounds like she was in no pain, which is good.

Again, I am jealous of your flowers. We have a HUGE mum that was planted three or four years ago, with several others. It is the only one that h as survived.

So we have a purple-ish pink color from it. One Rudbeckia stem decided to bloom, all the others are dead brown. ANd one of out Blue Salvi, that elf seeded, is blooming a pretty blu. So our garden isn't done yet, but the frost the other day might have started the process of flower dying.
