I'm in trouble with hubby, I got his saw out again and worked on our red acer, it was just too bulky this summer. It is brutal, but necessary, next year I will reduce the height. I'm not worried it will grow back, I did the same to my olive treea couple of years ago, and Sam does our magnolia tree regularly.
Saturday was dry and sunny, just few cloudy spells, we enjoyed coffee in our sunroom, a perfect spot out of the wind, I did a fair amount of gardening, making it look good for our visitors this coming weekend. I will pack away all my ornaments and the outside seating area next week, always a sad time here. I managed to add some supports to my agapanthus, I have two spots where the plants are getting huge, I hope the supports will hold the blooms up next year, they are evergreen, so it's best to do it now.
Sunday was cloudy, not too cold, so a bit more time outside, the veg beds are tidy, I am still picking raspberries, I have also dug out my gooseberry, all the leaves have been ate, I have popped it into a growbag to see if I can prevent sawfly, I have always struggled to grow them. I have everything ready for planting my spring bulbs, stored in the greenhouse, I will get them done early November.
My wildlife camera is now just recording Lilly in the garden at night, I have removed all the low branches, I am surprised not to see other cats coming in, we have often seen them, maybe I'm winning that battle.

We are slowly working through the winter jobs. We planted leeks at the weekend. Hopefully they will do ok. We are getting very frustrated with a fox that seems to love digging holes everywhere and turfing soil out of pots. We are having to try and make the garden look like an obstacle course with sticks all over the place to try and deter it. Nothing seems to be working 🙈🙈🙈
ReplyDeleteIt's always kind of a let-down when the only animals on the wildlife cam are our own pets!
ReplyDeleteYour garden is looking good in its Autumnal colours.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Your garden is looking lovely. I've been having a good tidy up in mine today, inbetween the light rain
ReplyDeleteYour garden is truly lovely, and so tidy. Puts ours to shame.
ReplyDeleteYour garden is always so lovely. We are busy putting ours to bed as there will be a killing frost very soon.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
You are putting your garden to sleep just as ours is starting to flourish.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing all your summer colour throughout our dull days.
DeleteYour garden looks great. I've made a start on ours, but there's still quite a bit to do and we've now got a new greenhouse to paint and assemble. All good fun though.
ReplyDeleteA greenhouse, exciting times.
DeleteThe daisies look lovely. We put our garden furniture to bed for the winter before we went away on holiday, it's just as well really as we wouldn't be using it now, it's wet and windy here today. I've still got all the garden to tidy up, I haven't even planted up an autumn display yet, there's still summer bedding in my pots at the front of the house but it's still providing some welcome colour.
ReplyDeleteThe garden has had a crazy year, again today it's mild outside, we had coffee outside, most days we use our sunroom.
