April round up

A bigger spend this month, I am using my stash for my cross stitch and knitting, but I required a bigger sewing frame, just a few plants and two pots for the garden, I also got the small water butt, my garden spend this year is way down, which is very pleasing. I also added the £20 for the plant hubby paid for.

6 Books read this month

I got my state pension increase same as everyone else this month, half of it was taken in tax, my tiny private pension puts me over the threshold.

We had a mobile mechanic out to check our car, the gears were a bit stiff, he came well recomended, we did not want to take the car to main dealer, they would just swap out the gearbox, it's now much better, he did suggest we would require a new clutch at some point, we have decisions to make. No other big household spend, hubby was looking to renew our toaster, the top was marked, I rubbed it with a ball of cooking foil, now it looks like new, nice saving, saw the tip on TV. Our London trip was paid for last month, we did not spend much on the day.

I did sell a few of my spare ceramic pots, made £24, and reclaimed loads of storage space, the few left, I can keep.

No waste here, we plan to put our food bin out every other week, it will never be full, just getting into a routine before the hot weather comes.

My weight is no change, I am becoming more active, which should help, nothing more to say, I have been suffering with more bloating, so I am trying to avoid too many carbs, maybe I might have a better comment next month..

  1. We don't use the main dealership, either. The local garage is far more efficient and can get hold of parts, which the main dealership seems to find difficult!

  2. We had to have a new clutch in March. We have been lucky in that normally it would have required a new one fitted around 100,000 mile mark and our car is around 180,000. It was still an eye watering £1300 though. DH loves his car and doesn't want a new one, so we soldier on Tring to patch it up.
I have to skip past the pots at the garden centres, I really need less to manage. Once the hot dry weather starts they are an expensive to keep watered. We have two water butt's and a hosepipe ban and our water bill last summer was still a shock.

    1. It's my car and it's 12 years old, I had it from new, this is the first work we have done on it, so it's still a good vehicle, it's only got 60,000 miles on the clock, so plenty of life left in it.

  3. Well done making some money from your old pots. I can never be bothered to sell things online anymore. I wish I could summon up the motivation, but I end up just donating them instead, as it's less hassle.

  6. I always get a call from the car dealer when my service is due, I refuse it and take it to a local approved garage, much cheaper.
It feels good sell things on and free up some space, plus you made a little bit in the process.

  7. Well done on your sales. I have tried to sell on our Facebook sites and just can't seem to sell anything at all.

    God bless.
